We strongly encourage making reservations, but we do keep 25% of our seats open for walk-ins.
Our food is California/Provencal. Food here is always made to order and the menu changes daily. We focus on mostly organic, local ingredients and buy directly from local farmers' markets every week. People commonly suggest our menu seems French/Italian...it is...the food in Provence is more similar to Italian cuisine than it is to northern French...with an emphasis on Olive oil over butter(though we like butter too) and lots of fresh vegetables, fruit, herbs and fish. Although beef is found in Provence, lamb and wild game are more prevalent. Our wood burning hearth is very common in Provencale cookery. We bake of our breads, french baguette and focaccia, in house daily.
We select our wines at Bistro Aix much the same way we select our food. We support small grower/producers who practice sustainable vineyard management and make "natural" wine...native yeasts, no fining or filtration and a responsible use of oak.
